The Greyfriars Partnership is a collective of members of the Edinburgh community that seek to invest in the spiritual, emotional, physical and practical needs of those around us through Greyfriars Kirk, the Grassmarket Community Project and the Greyfriars Charteris Centre.

A Brief History

Greyfriars Outreach is a ministry of Greyfriars Kirk, a church which aims to live out our values, and to take an active role in supporting the most vulnerable in our society. The Greyfriars Partnership includes the Greyfriars Kirk itself, the Greyfriars Charteris Centre and it’s user groups, and our Grassmarket Community Project.

Greyfriars Kirk

As well as being a practising Christian congregation, Greyfriars Kirk also arranges special services such as weddings.  The Kirk is a major arts, visitor and social events’ venue hosting concerts, exhibitions, tours, educational visits, private receptions and much more. We seek to offer hospitality in the name of Christ and, though we have a story to tell, we are also eager to hear yours, whatever your faith or beliefs.

Greyfriars Charteris Centre

The Greyfriars Charteris Centre is a Centre for Community in Edinburgh that exists to provide a place of connection with communities of all kinds: location, people, faith, need, interest, aspiration and many more.

Its various spaces are available for coordinated community and corporate use. All its activities give local people the opportunity to reach their potential through gaining new skills, building on existing abilities or dreams, and developing self-confidence. These activities provide mutually beneficial support to other groups in the Centre and enable greater provision and cohesion between all age groups in the local community.

Grassmarket Community Project

Grassmarket Community Project takes an innovative approach to creating community and providing sanctuary and support to our members, many of whom are amongst the most vulnerable in our society – homeless, rough sleeping, with a disability, mental health issue or simply isolated. Through a mixture of mentoring, social enterprise, training, volunteering, education and supported employment in a nurturing environment, the Grassmarket Community Project helps develop individuals to their full potential and achieve their goals— whatever that looks like.
